an Adoption Application. If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application. Meet Red! This handsome fella is sadly on our euthanasia list. Most rescues will NEVER state this on their websites. BUT we are straight shooters, NO BS or lies. Writting this updated biography for Red (which has been written and rewritten SO many times since his arrival to ARWOB 9/2024. Red was rescued 4/9/2021 by baja rescuers. Neutered 5/2021. ARWOB was notfied about him 9/2024 in need of assitance for him. We do not have fosters but we agreed to post him as available for adoption and take care of his vetting for the year. We had him come to San Diego 9/2024 to update diagnostics vaccines etc and board him in the hopes we could find a foster. Nothing so he went back to his fosteres. We never forget about dogs or cats like him who are stuck and in need of networking but sadly we can't help without fosters or facility. Brought Red back to San Diego 12/2025 in the hopes to try to find foster or adopter during holidays and UTD medical like blood work, dental, etc. NOT a single person inquired about him at any event BUT our president and founder has had a soft spot for him and made room at casa de arwob assuming he was ok with the dogs, which he was! Red has been in SD since sadly, not a single app for him. Red is the MOST amazing dog. There is just something about him, his companionship, love, loyalty and mostly his smile and happy self. He was not house trained but yes crate traiend when he arrived and typical male lifting leg everywhere but he was corrected ONCE inside the home and never did it again. He is just WONDERFUL. The only negative is his leash reactivity towards dogs during walks AND also dog introductions (irrespective of size or age or sex or breed) if the dogs are 'nice' easy approach he has no problem if they are strong approach he will react. He does amazing with female dogs and young male dogs like teens/pups. Have not really introduced him to adult male dogs at least not his or larger size. A working adult, family or retiree would be a great match for him IF they have strength to hold on to the leash during walks and deal with the leash reactivty or planning on enrolling in training. Since december he goes on 4-6 walks a week (once a day) and he LIVES for those walks. His foster takes usually Red and his BFF Gia on a 1-2 mile walk/hike which is when he is the happiest and when done and he is tired from the walk takes the rest of the foster dogs to the dog park. Red will NOT be a dog beach/dog park/doggy day care kind of dog. He is a family/at home dog who will be an excellent walking partner especially if his human walks him in less dog populated areas and times. Walking him is actually pretty peaceful and nice except when he encounters dogs which as long as not too close or you get him distracted he is bound to ignore them. You can see how amazing he is with the arwob dogs (females or male pups) He loves car rides, house and potty trained. He is always happy to be fed and gets himself inside his crate for feeding with a happy dance. You will always find him with his head resting on your lap looking at you with sad puppy eyes, give you licks and seeking to be petted. He is not a big barker at all but when he barks he has a mighty bark. LOVES people, on rare occasion he has barked at people being weary like most dogs/. He lives in a home with cats but is kept away from them. he does not seem to be interested or reactive to them We can test him better with cats if applicants have cats in the home. Red just had blood work, xryas dental in january 2026 and is a healthy senior doggo hoping for a miracle. We want a good home, not just anyone to take him to 'save him' he deserves someone who will not just keep him in the yard because can't handle the leash reactivity walks. He wants to enjoy life wether that is a couple of weeks in April or years to come with a family. We recommend foster to adopt trial for this sweetheart and if you are not in the position to adopt perhaps you can 'forever foster' him so he can enjoy life for whatever amount of time he has with someone focused solely on him. It breaks our heart he was rescued at 3yrs of age and now at 8yrs of age no one has inquired about him If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
