ill out an Adoption Application. If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application. Meet Max! This beautiful pup comes to us from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. He has a total of 6 litter mates. His mom is full grown at 45lbs and as of 3/20 Max is 15 pounds. we believe he will be a nice medium size full grown in the 40-55 lbs range. If you are looking to adopt a young pup and have the time (work/school schedule which is conducive to puppy training) for a pup we would love for this sweetheart to find a forever family to enjoy him during his young stages too! Max is the smallest of the males still available a total gentle soul who also can BRING IT and is ready to play! His foster ADORES this cutie pie! He is pretty amazing. He loves to find laps to wiggle himself inside and nap. Max is a total mutt look, we would not be surprised if he has some pitbull in him hence we say he is a shepherd/terrier mix anyone interested in this HANDSOME dude should have ZERO issues with pits and know when he is full grown could look like one (then again, some people see a retriever or Ridge back and think the dog is a pitt *eye roll*) and hence if a renter be aware of breed restrictions although all his medical record states him as a shepherd mix. He is the only one that looks more like mom who also may have some pitty/bully breeds in her as well as shep. Max is your Typical happy, playful, outgoing, silly and loving pup As of 3/22/26 Max is fully vaccinated and done with his vaccines and neutered in san diego. Healthy and looking for a foster or adopter. Foster to adopt trials are also available especially if you are not sure if you are ready for a pup. This litter was fostered from 2/12 to 3/20 in a home with adults, children and large breed dogs in a home with a yard setting. As of end of march they are fostered at casa de arwob along with multiple other arwob dogs and cats. They are crate trained and NOT potty trained, again, if you are NOT ready for potty training, then a puppy is NOT the one for you. He ADORES adults, children, dogs and cats. Want to meet him? submit an application TODAY or contact us via phone/email for inquiries. Meet and greets are in the 92111 zip code. We look forward to hearing from you! If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
