Update 3/25/26 - From Zoey’s foster family: Meet this sweet girl, Zoey! This 20 pound pup is as loving as they come and truly thrives on being part of your everyday life. She loves being around people and is happiest when she is included in whatever you are doing, whether that is relaxing at home or spending time with family. Her favorite place to be in the morning is curled up right on your lap, soaking in all the snuggles she can get. She has the perfect balance of playful and calm, enjoying her playtime but equally loving quiet moments where she can cuddle up close. She does wonderfully with adults, kids, and dogs of all sizes and ages, making her an easy addition to just about any home. Her sweet and gentle nature shines through in everything she does, and she brings a warm, comforting presence wherever she goes. Like any puppy, she has a curious side and enjoys exploring the world around her, but her loving and snuggly personality is what truly stands out. If you are looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who will happily be your cuddle buddy and your shadow, this sweet girl is ready to find her forever home. Original Rescue Story: This beautiful pup comes to us from the streets of Tijuana Mexico. She has a total of 6 litter mates. Her mom is full grown at 45 pounds and as of 3/20/26, Zoey is 20 pounds. We believe she will be a nice large sized pup when full grown, probably in the 50-70 pound range. If you are looking to adopt a young pup and have the work/school schedule that will allow you the necessary time for puppy training, we would love for this sweetheart to find a forever family that will enjoy her during her young states of life! Zoey is the largest of the litter and of the females. Her brother Pickles is the second largest pup and also the biggest of the boys. Zoey is one of the sweetest, easy going, and most loving pups. She stays away from puppy drama, although sometimes SHE does start it and then walks away. She is a typical happy, playful, outgoing, and silly puppy. As of 3/22/26, she is fully vaccinated and spayed. She is healthy and READY to go home to her new family! This litter was fostered from 2/12 to 3/20 in a home with adults, children, and large breed dogs with a yard setting. As of the end of March, we moved most of the family to a different foster, but Adele and her sister Zoey continue to live with the same foster family in the 92130 zip code. However, meet and greets can be scheduled in the 92130 area OR in the 92111 area once an online application has been submitted and reviewed for approval – at that time we can determine which area meets the needs of the applicant. Would you like to meet Zoey? Please submit an online application TODAY at .arwob . Or you can contact us via phone or email for inquiries. We look forward to hearing from you and we know that Zoey is dying to meet you! If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
