❤️ Meet Kirby ❤️
Kirby is a bright, affectionate Australian Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger love for life. He still has classic Aussie enthusiasm, but he’s reached a wonderful balance — energetic and playful on walks or adventures, then happy to relax and be calm in the house afterward.
Kirby is exceptionally smart and highly food-motivated. He loves learning new things and truly enjoys training and mental challenges. Fetch is one of his favorite games, and he also loves hiking, long walks, water play, and splashing around in kiddie pools.
At home, Kirby has the sweetest quirk: he adores blankets, especially thin, soft ones. He’ll gently carry them around and suck on them like a comfort item — it’s incredibly endearing and shows his sensitive, affectionate nature.
Kirby is friendly with other dogs and strangers, enjoys social settings, and is wonderful out in public. He can walk into stores and remain relaxed and well-behaved. He loves car rides and even does well at the vet. Because he can slip out of a standard collar, he requires a head harness or martingale collar for safety.
He may bark when people wear face coverings like masks or helmets, but this is limited to vocal anxiety — he does not show aggression. He has played well with older children but has not been around younger kids or babies, so a home with children 12+ would be best.
Kirby has shown food guarding behaviors with other dogs, though never with humans. He would likely do well with other dogs given proper management and introductions. A cat-free home is recommended.
Ideal Home
Kirby would thrive with a mature, committed adopter who enjoys taking their dog out and providing regular mental stimulation and enrichment. He would love someone interested in training, adventure, and building a strong bond with a truly intelligent and loving companion.
Kirby is being rehomed due to housing loss, through no fault of his own. He deserves a stable, loving home where his intelligence, sensitivity, and playful spirit can shine.
