ld Malinois who is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and fully ready to conquer your heart.
Personality of a God (with a goofy side):
Ares is equal parts hilarious, affectionate, and people-obsessed. He’s active and intelligent—but unlike your typical Malinois legend, he skipped the chaotic “twitchy” setting. Think adventure buddy meets couch companion.
He doesn’t demand endless hours of work—just a human willing to toss a ball, do some fun training, go on outdoor adventures, and, most importantly, allow him to patrol the yard for squirrels like the noble warrior he is. On quieter days, he’s perfectly content lounging at home, chewing a bone, and keeping watch over his domain.
Social Skills (a warrior with a soft side):
Ares may enter the arena a little strong when meeting new dogs—but don’t be fooled, it’s all theatrics. Once introductions are over, he’s friendly, playful, and drama-free. He has done well indoors and outdoors, on and off leash, around food and toys, and in high-energy situations, showing zero unwanted guarding behaviors. He would thrive with a few dog friends to spar (play) with from time to time.
His Inner Circle (choose wisely):
Ares is deeply loyal and tends to bond hard with “his person”—ride-into-battle-together loyal. Because of that, it’s important that everyone in the household actively participates in building a relationship with him through walks, playtime, training, and downtime. With consistency, he’ll happily expand his circle, but left to his own devices, he may pick a favorite and declare them his one true human.
A Thoughtful Ruler:
Ares is emotionally sensitive and does best with clear, fair guidance. Too lax and he gets unsure. Too strict and he shuts down. Give him that balanced leadership, and you’ll have a calm, devoted, and incredibly rewarding companion.
A Special Opportunity:
Ares’ trainer has generously offered to continue working with him free of charge for his foster or adoptive home. Because of this, we would love to see Ares placed within one to two hours of Syracuse, New York so his new family can take full advantage of this incredible support and set him up for long-term success.
The Verdict:
Ares isn’t here to wage war—he’s here to win hearts, chase squirrels, and live his best adventure life with his people. If you’re looking for a Malinois who brings the personality without the chaos and the loyalty without the overwhelm, Ares might just be your perfect match.
