Daisy #21 | 9-Week-Old Shepherd Mix | Tiny Explorer with a Big Personality Daisy is a 9-week-old Shepherd mix weighing in at about 10 pounds, and she is everything you could hope for in a puppy—playful, affectionate, curious, and already showing signs of being an amazing companion. With her adorable white coat and black markings, she turns heads wherever she goes, but it’s her personality that truly steals the show. Daisy loves to play with anything she can get her paws on—whether it’s toys, sticks, or new discoveries around the house—but she’s just as happy to climb into your lap, rest her head on you, and drift off to sleep. One of her cutest quirks is her signature “crawl,” where she face plants and scoots across the floor in the most endearing way imaginable. As a young puppy, Daisy is still learning all the basics. She’s making good progress with potty training but will need continued consistency and patience as she grows—like most puppies, she needs to go out frequently, especially after waking up. She hasn’t started leash walks just yet, but she’s already getting used to wearing a harness and is taking everything in stride. Daisy is doing wonderfully with crate training, settling in easily at night and even sleeping up to 6–7 hours with a full day of play. She also does great when left alone for short periods, happily snoozing in her crate. Daisy gets along beautifully with other dogs and enjoys both playing with friends and entertaining herself. While she hasn’t met cats or children yet, her easygoing and friendly nature suggests she’ll likely adapt well with proper introductions. She appears to be a higher-energy pup in the making, so she’ll thrive in a home ready to provide regular activity, playtime, and ongoing training. Daisy is motivated by love and affection and is already responding well to structure and routine, happily settling in her pen when needed. Daisy’s ideal home is one filled with patience, time, and lots of love to help guide her through puppyhood. She would do well in a variety of households, as long as her adopters are committed to continuing her training and giving her the attention and activity a growing pup needs. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, and endlessly entertaining addition to your family, Daisy is ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of puppy kisses into your life. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $475 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
