rful personality and a great balance of playful energy and calm companionship. Jayne is always happy to run, play, and enjoy outdoor adventures, but she also has an excellent “off switch” and is just as content relaxing on the couch or settling calmly in her crate. One of Jayne’s favorite things in the world is water. Whether it is a puddle, creek, or muddy splash zone, Jayne will happily jump right in and enjoy herself. She also has the classic Dane charm of offering plenty of slobbery affection to the people she loves. Jayne thrives in a structured environment with clear expectations and routine. She is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and rides comfortably in the car. She is also muzzle trained and e-collar trained. Jayne responds well to confident leadership and does best with an experienced owner who is comfortable continuing her training and providing consistency. Jayne is very food motivated and enjoys training and working with her person. She benefits from engagement, mental stimulation, and regular activity. She is easy to live with when given structure and routine, and she settles nicely in her crate whether she has just finished playing or is resting after a quieter day. Jayne can be dog selective and may react if challenged. Because of this, slow and controlled introductions are recommended. She would do best with a respectful, submissive dog or as the only dog in the home. Jayne has been neutral around cats, chickens, and horses. Jayne is very affectionate with people and enjoys leaning in for attention and giving kisses. She has done well with children in her foster home and is comfortably handled by the children in the family. Jayne is accustomed to eating in her crate and does best continuing this routine. She has shown some food guarding behavior in the past, but structured feeding in a quiet space helps her feel relaxed and secure. Jayne’s ideal home would be with an active individual or family who enjoys spending time outdoors and is committed to continuing her training and socialization. She loves off-leash time, training sessions, and playing with her handler, and she is equally happy to settle down and relax once her energy has been spent. Despite everything she has been through, Jayne remains resilient, affectionate, and eager to bond with her person. She is ready to become a loyal companion and a devoted best friend. Jayne will also come with her crate, toys, training equipment, and other supplies to help set her up for success in her new home. If you are looking for a playful, devoted companion who will happily join you on life’s adventures, Jayne may be the perfect match. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescuemesrgdrr. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
