as has her elf eyes peeled for the right family to explore the world with! She and her littermates have been your typical mouthy and active pups, and won't be content with the quiet life of a hobbit: they are seeking homes that will help them lead adventurous and fulfilled lives. Legolas has been one of the more independent puppies: she will play with littermates and interact with me when I seek her out or get her one on one, but more often than not she is happy to self entertain. A home looking to build a strong bond will bring out the best in her: take the time to forge a solid relationship and she'll be your ride or die! The Fellowship were born on 2/9/26 and have been raised in foster with their momma Shire, a 40lb ACD. She has been a friendly girl and has done a great job caring for her little Shirelings! Embark results show Shire is full ACD, and that the sire was a predominantly great pyrenees, husky, and labrador mix. Though those results threw me for a bit of a loop, the pups all have a similar look to one another so I feel it is unlikely there were multiple sires (but that's always a possibility). They have been raised with Puppy Culture to the best of my ability, and I have been establishing foundational skills here including crate exposure and a verbal marker system for training. Of course, as puppies they will need continued training for all the basics. They have all been doing well with exposure to new objects, textures, environments, sounds, and people. Pups are getting positive exposure to adult dogs, and while Legolas does not require a home with another dog, any other dogs in the home should be confident and stable to give her a good role model. She should be fine around cats with proper integration, and will likely do best in a home without young children. The pups of the Fellowship have been vet checked, microchipped, are up to date on deworming, and have age-appropriate vaccinations. They are being adopted out on spay/neuter contracts to allow their puppy bodies and minds more time to develop. Please keep your location in mind when applying: the pups must meet their potential families here in person to help ensure a great match! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
