Johnny Bravo | 2 yrs | Schnauzer/Poodle mix | Tiny dude, big feelings, loyal to his person Johnny Bravo (“JB”) is a smart, affectionate little guy who bonds deeply with his person and loves nothing more than being close—resting his head on you, showing off his prance, or proudly carrying around his favorite toy. At 17 pounds, this black and gray cutie is the perfect size for snuggles and adventures alike. He’s house trained, sleeps through the night without accidents, and does well with a consistent potty routine, though like many dogs, accidents can happen in a new environment as he adjusts. JB knows several commands like sit, stay, come, and leave it, and while he can get distracted, his intelligence really shines when he’s focused—especially if cheese is involved. JB thrives on structure, routine, and mental enrichment. He enjoys multiple daily “wanders” (short, low-pressure outings in quieter areas), puzzle toys, and chew bones. While traditional walks can be stressful due to leash reactivity, he’s been making progress with a trainer and does well in calm environments where he can explore at his own pace. At home, he settles nicely after activity and is content to relax with his person. He can be crated for a few hours and may whine initially, but he does settle with time and consistency. Because of past trauma, JB has some sensitivities and needs an experienced, infinitely patient adopter who understands spicy little dogs and will give him the time, space, and consistency he needs to feel safe. He does not like certain areas of his body being touched and may react if pushed too far, so reading and respecting his cues is essential. He should be the only pet in the home and is not a fit for homes with children. JB is also not suited for apartment living—he needs a quiet, single-family home where he won’t be overstimulated by noise. JB’s story is one of resilience—he came from a difficult past where he was chained outside and survived a severe dog attack that left him hospitalized for weeks. Despite everything, he is incredibly loving, loyal, and eager to connect with his person. He will require ongoing support, including continued training, regular grooming, and likely anxiety management, but for the right person, JB is an incredibly rewarding companion. This cutie pie will need some extra guidance as he continues his journey to the amazing life he deserves, but he’ll more than repay that time and effort with his loyalty and love. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $500. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
