ey is an almost 4-year-old fawn Doberman with a story that's already full of resilience and quiet strength. In February ,she welcomed a beautiful litter of puppies into the world, and not long after, she and her little ones found their way to Doberman Rescue of Minnesota at just six weeks old. Now, fully vaccinated and thriving, Honey and her puppies are ready to begin their next chapters finding forever homes that will love them as deeply as they deserve. Honey has been nothing short of remarkable. She arrived and somehow just knew how to be the perfect farm companion, as if she'd been quietly studying the job her whole life. Whether she's out on the trails with horses gracefully leading or following or helping with daily chores, she stays tuned in, always aware, always keeping her people in sight. She has that rare blend of independence and devotion that feels almost intuitive. Her social circle is impressively diverse. Cats, chickens, guineas, even a bold peacock who taps at the window like a daily challenger, Honey takes it all in stride with calm curiosity and respect. Honey loves other dogs, but her true joy is her connection with people. She has excellent recall, rides beautifully in the car, and happily tags along for everything from fence fixing to quiet evenings at home. She's highly trainable, eager to listen, and carries herself with a thoughtful curiosity that never crosses into chaos. If homes were'nt limited, Honey and her puppies would never leave as they've woven themselves into daily life with ease. They embody what Dobermans are meant to be: loyal companions, gentle family dogs, and quietly watchful guardians. They greet friends with warmth and offer just enough of that classic Doberman gaze to make strangers think twice. Honey is ready to give her whole heart to a family who will cherish her for the incredible dog she is. If you're looking for a companion who is as steady as she is loving, Honey just might be your perfect match. This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. dobermanrescueminnesota/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Our foster families are generally located within a 250 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
