Momma was very protective of her puppies and threatening to bite so they requested rescue. We agreed and momma has shown what a sweet girl she is and the babies have thrived and are now ready to find their happily ever afters. Momma is Lola and babies are Locket, Curio, Trinket, and Bauble. Current Behavior: Very smart, independent but loving, very very sweet and learning to play with toys. Lola was very protective of her puppies at the shelter- growling, threatening- but never actually bit anyone. She took a few days to get to know me and now loves nothing more than sitting in my lap all the time. She has met some volunteers and family and is warming up to strangers better but she is still one of those dogs doesn't trust strangers easily. She is learning to have fun and play with toys and she loves guarding the yard against anything and anyone she is constantly patrolling. I think she thinks she might be a Malinois!!! Housetraining- Currently using a dog door perfectly however doesn't seem to understand having the run of the house yet and not going potty inside. But does well in her smaller area with the dog door so she knows she just needs to completely make that connection if she doesn't have the dog door available not to potty inside. Her ideal home is loving, active, and can give her lots of attention and outdoor activities but give her some space and treats to get to bond. She will do best with older children who can give her space until she gets to know them. However, she would do best in a home with no small children though. She is such an amazing little girl full of energy and love. She follows me around like a tiny shadow always wanting to keep an eye on me. When we relax she sits in my lap and just enjoys her ears and back being pet. She has met several dogs here and is not a fan- so may do best as a one and only. She is a sweet girl who just wants love and her own family who won't let her end up in the situation she was found in - she was so matted they had to sedate her just to give her some relief. She will need a lot of future grooming so if you are not prepared to pay a groomer every 4-6 weeks then I do not recommend getting her.
