4/21 Back about 5 or 6 years, I had a senior German Shepherd up for adoption. I approved an application from a very kind, loving human named Chuck, who adopted and gave that dog a wonderful couple of years, until he passed away. Soon after he passed, Chuck adopted another senior dog from a local shelter and gave that dog a wonderful life until he passed last year. In January of this year, I saw this sweet soul, Sophie, posted at a local shelter. She was a cruelty case. She had lived all her life chained to a rusted old car, and the courts had finally just released her to be adopted. I knew she was Chuck's kind of dog and tagged him in the post. He adopted her the next day. I thought that was her happily ever after. Chuck LOVED this dog. Dearly. Completely. Sadly, Chuck was killed in a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago, and now Sophie has lost the only person who ever showed her what love is. She only experienced love for a few months and then it was snatched away without warning. Now Sophie is once again in need of a home. She is currently living in a kennel, which we are thankful for, but a kennel is not a home, and a cold, hard floor is not easy on old joints, like that soft comfy bed was. We need to find another loving home for her. Sophie is about 8-9 years old but still has a lot of life in her. She likes to play. She loves kids. She has done well with male dogs, but not great with females. Please, please consider opening your home to her. She is so deserving. Her world is in shambles right now. A new family could heal her heart.
She is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays.

Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
