y to us after surviving life as a stray in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Somewhere along the way, she picked up heartworm, but she handled treatment like a champ and is now on the other side of it, healthy and ready to move forward.
And she’s more than ready.
Hope is the kind of dog who just gets it. She isn’t loud or demanding, not a big barker, and she carries herself with this easy, calm confidence. She enjoys attention and affection, but she’s not pushy about it. She’ll happily come over for pets, lean into you a bit, and then go off to entertain herself when she’s content.
Toys are her thing. She absolutely loves them. The best part is she actually respects them, no chaos, no destruction(unless they are super plushies), just a happy dog enjoying her collection like it’s her full-time job. Give her a few toys and some space to run, and she’ll keep herself busy without needing constant direction.
She’s also a big fan of the simple things. Sunshine is high on her priority list, and you’ll often find her stretched out soaking it in like she’s earned every second of it. When she’s not sunbathing, she enjoys running around and getting her energy out in her own playful, easygoing way.
Hope does great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. She’s social without being overwhelming, playful without being too much.
She’s not a digger, she’s respectful in the home, and overall just a really awesome, balanced dog who has clearly decided she’s done with the hard part of life and is ready for the good part.
Hope doesn’t need a perfect home, just a real one. One where she can have her toys, her sunshine, a little room to run, and people who are happy to have her nearby.
She’s already done the hard work. Now she’s just waiting for her person.

• Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.
Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.
Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.
