my time with the nice volunteers, who spend time with and take great care of me. I’m ready to find a wonderful family of my very own – where I can love and be loved furever! I came in heartworm positive, but I’ll be treated for that soon, so local adoption please. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and did not like them, so I’ll want to be your only dog. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. I also wanted to chase a child I saw on a bike – but that may have just been because they were on a bike, I’m not sure. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a playful, happy, and super sweet boy with a gentle nature and just the right amount of energy. I was a perfect gentleman for my bath - calm, relaxed, and such a sweetheart - giving kisses and even hugging my bather during the rinse, then sitting quietly for my ear cleaning. I may have looked a bit serious during my photo shoot, but I’m truly a fun-loving and affectionate pup! / Energy level: 5-7 and I’ll need to stay a bit calmer until I’ve had my heart worm treatment and finished my rest period. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘come’ commands and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / The crate is not my favorite place, but I’m working on it – it’s a bit difficult for me to go back in and sometimes I can be a little reactive because I’d rather be out with the volunteers. My trainer is working with me on this, and they will be happy to help you. / My potty manners have been good at the shelter with very few accidents. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love treats, being with my people, and having fun! I’m sure once I’m settled into my new home, we’ll discover lots more things to enjoy together. / Other than dogs and being crated, I can’t think of other dislikes, though like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I just had a dental cleaning so my mouth is fresh and clean again! Since I wasn’t kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, I’m heartworm positive. The good news is that I’ll be treated for that in late May 2026, and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption please. I hope to be with my new family before treatment begins! I’m a fun little dog looking for a great family that will take great care of me and love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
