FOSTER COMMENTS: Meet Bo — your future best friend wrapped up in one adorable, wiggly, tail-wagging package. Bo is the kind of puppy who makes every day feel a little brighter. With his playful spirit and love for cuddles, he’s equal parts entertainer and snuggle buddy. One minute he’s happily bouncing around with a toy, the next he’s curled up beside you, soaking up all the love he can get. He’s incredibly sweet, full of personality, and always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing. As a young pup, Bo is still learning the ropes of the world. He’s currently working on crate training and housebreaking, and like any baby, he’ll need a family committed to helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. The good news? He’s eager, social, and loves people, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. Bo is friendly with new people and has already shown he does well with other dogs. He’s even been around a baby and handled it like a champ. He may be a little vocal right now, but that’s just part of his puppy charm—he’s figuring out how to “use his voice,” and with guidance, he’ll learn when it’s time to chat and when it’s time to relax. Bo will thrive with a family who’s ready to include him in daily life, continue his training, give him exercise, playtime and plenty of love, attention and belly rubs. He can be happy as an only dog soaking up all your attention or with a canine sibling to play with. If you’re looking for a puppy who is affectionate, playful, and absolutely irresistible, Bo is your guy. He’s not just cute—he’s the kind of dog who will grow up to be a loyal, loving companion for years to come. All he needs now is a family to call his own. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore prefer applicants that live within an hours drive of Cary NC. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
