onfidence. Tommy is quite the explorer and approaches the world with curiosity and determination. In fact, we often forget that he is blind because he navigates his surrounding so well. He and the foster's pup have become fast friends and spend much of their day playing together. Tommy is living his best life. Sweet Tommy may have little to no sight, but don't tell him that! Tommy doesn't know he's any different, and he certainly isn't letting partial blindness slow him down. This happy little guy spends his days playing with the resident dog, stealing toys whenever the opportunity presents itself, and exploring the world with confidence and curiosity. While Tommy is blind in one eye and has only partial vision in the other, he navigates life remarkably well. He learns routines quickly, follows sounds and scents, and takes his cues from the dogs and people around him. Most importantly, Tommy is happy. He loves to play, loves companionship, and approaches each day with enthusiasm and joy. His foster says he keeps up with everyone just fine and has no intention of letting a little thing like limited vision get in the way of living his best life. The world is Tommy's oyster, and he's ready to find a family willing to see past his eyes and appreciate the incredible little dog he is. Tommy is the tiniest cuddliest of his litter. Tommy is sweet as sugar! These beautiful babies didn’t start life with love — they started it fighting to survive. Abandoned in Puerto Rico and left to starve, this multicolored litter of puppies was found just in time. Weak, hungry, and scared, they had no one looking out for them… until now. Today, they are safe, fed, and finally learning what it feels like to be cared for — but their journey isn’t over yet. Each puppy is as unique as their coat — a perfect mix of colors, personalities, and pure resilience. Despite everything they’ve been through, they are incredibly sweet, playful, and full of love. They are trusting, hopeful, and ready to bond with a family of their own. Now they need the most important rescue of all — a forever home. ✨ Puppy details: • 5.5 months old, 16-21 lbs • current on age appropriate vaccines • Mixed breed “Sato” pups from Puerto Rico • Bright, playful, and affectionate Adoption fee $395 Click an image to complete one of our adoption applications today!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
