so happy to be soaking up all the love from the volunteers. Now I'm ready to find a wonderful home of my own with a family to love and be loved by! Perhaps you? • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I came in with another dog, but I was a bit overwhelmed when meeting dogs at Mostly Mutts and was reactive during introductions. I think I might do best with a calm, female dog, so if you have a pup like this at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. If you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a friendly, happy, and very sweet pup with lots of love to give. The volunteers say I’m a sweet and wonderful dog, and a very loving one, too. For the Mostly Mutts photographer, I was described as an all-happy fluff pup - and that fits me perfectly! Speaking of fluff – I am the kind of dog that will need regular brushing to keep my fur looking good. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, and ‘place’ commands as well as how to accept friendly strangers without jumping and proper door etiquette. I look forward to learning even more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / The crate is not my favorite place as I’d rather be out spending time with people. / I’ve only had a few accidents on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love sitting in laps, playing with toys, and soaking up all the pets and affection you want to give. Being loved is one of my favorite things! / Other than the crate not being my favorite thing, like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
