someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at .carolinapoodlerescue/application Foster location: Foster Home in Raleigh, NC Weight: 10 lbs Height: 9 in Spayed/Neutered: Unknown Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, though she has one in her foster home and loves to frolic in the grass. Want To Know More About Me? Text Cecilia to 864-441-9075 for my full story and photos - we'll send everything you need to know! Here's Your Quick Peek: Cecilia - aka Cece - is the happiest little girl you’ll ever meet, always strutting around with her tail up and a big smile on her face. At just 10 lbs with adorable cow-like coloring, she’s as unique as she is sweet, making friends everywhere she goes. Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Must have: A home with someone committed to ongoing medical needs, specifically daily eye drops (Cece has dry eyes) and an itchy skin routine (medicated baths weekly + daily oral medicine). Exercise: Cece is happy with daily walks and some strolls in a fenced yard. She isn't a marathon runner and doesn't want to go on multi-mile hikes. Best with: A family that is home more than they are away. Cece isn't needy, but she likes to know you are close by. Not ideal for: A home where you are gone for long periods of time. Energy level: Moderate - Cece is no couch potato. She loves a nap as much as the rest of us, but she also has plenty of pep in her step. Sweet as sugar and full of joy, Cece is the kind of pup who brightens every room (and every heart) she walks into. Good with dogs: Definitely! She enjoys playing with her foster siblings. Good with kids: Likely. We don't know if Cece has ever lived with kids, but she quite literally loves everyone so we cannot imagine her not enjoying children. Cats: Cece hasn't been tested with cats. If you have them, let us know and we can test her. Fun fact: Cece was described by the shelter as a "hot mess" and she definitely was when she arrived in rescue. What a beautiful, special girl we found under all that "mess"! Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Want updates and ways to help? 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
