est guess is she is a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. Mama Mia gave birth to the “Pasta Puppies” a litter of 8! On 3/20/2026. This was her first and last litter, which she is very grateful for because boy were her puppies heavy eaters! She came into foster care emaciated and it was very difficult to get weight on her while she was nursing. She has now filled out so nicely with a beautiful sleek coat! Mama Mia has been a fantastic mother to her babies, keeping them protected, clean, and well fed. However, nobody was as excited as her for them to be weaned. She was also great at letting anybody hold and handle her babies if she got some loving too. Mama Mia is crate trained, she sleeps in her crate at night and has run of the kitchen during the day, with a doggy door. She is a pro with the doggy door and always takes herself outside to go potty. Mama Mia is a very loyal dog and accompanies her grandpa foster to a big grassy park every evening where she loves to run and chase a ball. She is lightning fast! She never gets too far away from her grandpa foster though and always has here eye on him, he couldn’t sneak away if he wanted to! She enjoys other dogs but humans are where her true love lies. Some fun facts about Mama Mia is she is an excellent trail riding dog, and stays out of the horse pens unless invited in. This trait will transfer over to a mountain biking and hiking/trail running companion. Mama Mia is also well behaved around chickens, pigeons, cats, and respectful kids. Mama Mia is very mellow and well behaved on car rides. She also loves a fat nap but exercise and getting her wiggles out is an important part of her life. Mama Mia always lets out a quiet sweet little howl when she greets the people she loves the most as her whole body waggles. Mama Mia is as loyal as they come and has earned to have a phenomenal forever home where she doesn’t have to worry about bouncing to other houses and she can have her forever people that she will bond so closely with. If you can be that dream home for this dream dog, than apply to meet her today bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
