s who came to Mostly Mutts from animal control along with my siblings. I was adopted for a couple of months, but my family stated that they were moving and couldn’t take me with them, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for my furever family! I’m hopeful and looking forward to lots of good times with my family – perhaps you? • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I loved my siblings and the other dogs I met at Mostly Mutts. My former owner also reported that I liked the dogs I met while I was with them, so if you have a dog that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids at Mostly Mutts, but my former family said that I liked the kids I met while I was with them, though I don’t recall their ages, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I was nervous when I was returned to Mostly Mutts because I understandably didn’t know what had happened, but I’m already showing that I can adjust with a little time and patience. Once I settled in, I warmed up nicely and showed everyone what a happy, sweet pup I am. Like most youngsters, I’m still in the puppy chewing phase of life, so I’ll need a family that’s ready to puppy-proof our home and help guide me as I learn what’s mine to chew and what isn’t! / Energy level: 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ command so far and I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s do some training together. / My former owner reported that I was crate trained. / My potty manners are coming along, though I’ll need my new family to finish potty training me. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love running around and playing with toys and having fun and I enjoy some good walks in a quieter environment at the moment, too. I just know we’ll have lots of fun together in my new home, and I can’t wait to discover all the adventures we’ll share. / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m young, though like all dogs I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
