o have dogs who are perfect for the right someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at .carolinapoodlerescue/application Foster location: Dreamweaver Farm, Pacolet SC Weight: 15.4 lbs Height: ~12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 - fee sponsored thank you donors summer 2026 special Fence needed? Not necessary, Poppy can be an escape artist and will try to get out of fence lines to follow you around. She MUST be attended at all times when outside. PLEASE ASK FOR POPPY'S STORY AND MEDICAL RECORDS Want To Know More About Me? Text POPPY to 864‑441‑9075 for my full story, photos, and videos — we’ll send everything you need to know! Please note — if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlrescue.ord/application/ Here’s Your Quick Peek: Poppy is a sweet, affectionate Maltipoo who bonds deeply with her person and wants nothing more than to be by your side. She’s calm, gentle, and happiest when she can be included in your daily life. Must have: Someone home more often than not — Poppy forms strong attachments and struggles when left alone. Exercise: Moderate — short walks and relaxed time in the yard. Best with: A calm, quiet home with an adopter who enjoys companionship and routine. Not ideal for: Busy households, long workdays, or homes with young children or cats. Energy level: Medium — balanced, gentle, and easygoing. Poppy is fully vetted, and spayed. Poppy had mammary tumors that were removed and came back positive for mammary adenocarcinoma. Right now, Poppy is being monitored but is healthy. She’s affectionate, gentle, and loves treats and people. She can be food‑protective around other dogs, so she may do best as the only dog or with careful management. She can be an escape artist to get to YOU and must be watched closely if outside in a fenced in yard. Good with dogs: Poppy is great with other dogs until food bowls are involved. She will coexist in a home fine with another dog so long as she is fed separately. Good with kids: We think Poppy would be fine with older kids. 12+ Cats: No. Fun fact: Once Poppy bonds with you, she’ll want to go everywhere you go — she’s the definition of a loyal little shadow. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
