ow found myself at animal control, and I’m so grateful to be with Mostly Mutts now. I’m enjoying my time with the wonderful volunteers and can’t wait to meet the family who will call me their own! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t officially met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, but I came in with a couple of other dogs, so if you have a nice dog that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a handsome boy who is quite the cuddle bug and I love being close to the nice volunteers. Everyone says I’m a very sweet fellow and I was wonderfully calm for my bath, spending much of the time standing at the edge of the tub looking out the window, and I even offered up my paws for my nail trim. When meeting new people, I can be a bit nervous and came in somewhat skittish, so I like it when people sit down and let me come to them at first. Once I feel comfortable, my affectionate and loving personality really shines though and it doesn’t take too long. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer! Check back soon to see what I've learned and let's continue my training with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / For a young puppy, I’m doing well with my potty training, so I think mastering this in my new home should go well with consistency. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love giving and getting kisses, and cuddling is one of my favorite ways to spend time with my people. If you're looking for a sweet snuggle buddy, I’m happy to fill that role! / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet except maybe being rushed, and like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
