n of good girl. She has a chill energy and is an easy dog to share a home with. She enjoys meeting new people and new dogs. She loves other big dogs and would love another playful dog in her home. Her current foster home does not have cats, but she recently spent a long weekend in a temp foster home with cats. They were mostly separated so that the cats weren’t stressed, but Doja seemed interested but was easily redirected, so we think she may be able to live in a home with a dog savvy cat and reasonably slow introductions. Doja came to our shelter after her owner passed away. She soon became a volunteer favorite and playgroup helper dog. She became a trusted girl who helped staff assess new dogs and also helped teach some manners to unruly youngsters. She was so dog social, we moved her to the biggest shelter suite we have! With 2 doggy roommates! But Doja was hiding a secret. One day Doja started delivering beautiful baby puppies while still sharing her shelter suite. Fortunately this happened during working hours while shelter staff could quickly give her a private space. Unfortunately Doja started to bleed far too much during delivery, and our vet team made the call to send her to an emergency vet for a life saving emergency spay and 24 hour care. Doja quickly recovered and took beautiful care of her 2 baby boys. They all soon went to one of our foster homes that specializes in moms with litters. Doja was a great mom to her puppies (they’ve been adopted) and now it’s her turn to enjoy the spotlight and be the center of her adoptive family’s heart. Doja regularly hikes with her foster mom and does well. She has good manners and is fun to hike with. She regularly hikes with a 20 pound dog and has done well with him. We have not seen her around kids but we will update her information as we learn more. This girl really enjoys a game of fetch. She loves her ball and will bring it back continually until you stop playing. Foster mom limits her fetching time to a few minutes a day. She loves wrestling with the dogs in her foster home and does well with both male and female dogs. She settles easily and has a chill vibe. She loves car rides and does very well in the car. She has good house manners and has not been destructive in her foster home. She’s pretty good on leash for a girl her size, especially if she’s able to get her initial energy out with some fetch beforehand. She is potty trained and sleeps all night in foster mom’s bedroom with no fuss or accidents. We always suggest keeping new dogs on a consistent potty schedule until they’re well acclimated into their new home. She’s shown no signs of separation anxiety in her foster home and is left loose in the house while her fosters are away. Doja’s ideal home would have a yard to play fetch or a good park nearby, and an active family that wants to include her in fun outings. She’s easy to take along.
