I have been spending time in a great foster home! I am enjoying my time here, and they love me, so that sounds like a good preview of the great home that awaits me! My future family and I – making each other happy! I’m now available for adoption, so plan to meet me soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like the other dog in my foster home, and we play and sleep together – so cute. I also met dogs at Mostly Mutts before going to my foster home and did alright with them, too - I was interested though not quite ready to play at that time. So, if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / I met the kitty in my foster home and ran after him, so we haven’t met again. I’m likely best not cats. / I really enjoy the 6-, 8- and 15-year-old kids in my foster home! I am a bit playfully mouthy sometimes, so best no toddlers that I may be too much for. Giving me a toy helps with my playful mouthiness. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a very sweet girl who loves being around my people and being part of the family. I’m calm and easygoing for the most part, but I do have a playful, energetic side that comes out when I’m ready for some fun. My foster says I’m just an all-around sweet girl who would make a wonderful family companion. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: While I was at the MM shelter, I showed that I knew the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, and ‘leave it’ commands. Let’s continue my training with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / I don’t like spending much time in a crate, so I’ll cry a little when I’m in it, though I do settle. At nighttime, I sleep on a dog bed in my fosters’ room or in bed with them. / I’m having some accidents in my foster home, so they are working with me on this now. Hopefully there will be good improvements, just ask how it’s coming along. They do crate me when they need to leave the home to help with this as well. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy car rides and am happy to join my family on adventures! Playing with the other dog and kids in my foster home is fun as well as chasing toys and balls, going for walks, and staying active with my people. I’m also a big fan of being petted, cuddling and soaking up attention. After my spa bath time, I had a blast rolling around on my towel and bed. / I’m not a big fan of the crate, and if you leave a room and close the door behind you, I may whimper a little because I enjoy being near my people. And like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a wonderful young dog looking for a wonderful family to have fun with and be loved furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
