ly, they took me in and I’m on the road to a good life with a new family! I came in heartworm positive, but I’ll be treated for that soon, so local adoption please. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, loving, and smart boy with a heart full of affection. I was a little nervous when I first arrived, but once I warm up, I become a friendly, devoted companion who loves being close to my people. I’ll happily ask to be picked up, give you lots of kisses, and I was so relaxed on a volunteer’s lap that I almost fell asleep! I’m the perfect sofa buddy and a real charmer who enjoys sharing affection. I was also very brave during my bath, patiently standing at the edge of the tub through an extensive ear cleaning while giving my bather some kisses along the way. / Energy level: 4-6. I’ve tested high heartworm positive, so I’ll need to stay relatively calm until I’ve completed my heartworm treatment and recovery period. Nice short potty walks will do for now. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already learned how to greet friendly strangers without jumping on them. I’m new to leash walking so that’s one of the things I’m learning now. I look forward to learning lots more with my trainer. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / I’m doing well with my potty manners on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy being picked up and curling up in laps where I can be close to my people. One of my favorite ways to show affection is by giving sweet little kisses to remind you just how loved you are. And I’m sure that once I’m settled into my new home, we’ll discover many more things we’ll enjoy doing together! / I don’t think I’d want to live in a loud or busy home as I like things a bit calmer. Other than that, like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have a grade 2 luxating patella in my rear left leg which is common in a lot of little dogs and doesn’t require treatment currently. Sadly, I wasn’t kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, so I’m heartworm positive. The good news is that I’ll be treated for that in Aug. 2026, and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet. I hope to be with my new family before treatment begins! I’m looking for a wonderful home and family that will treasure and take great care of me. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
