Dachshund mix and one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet. She may be a little shy when meeting new people and might greet you with a timid little howl or some cautious curiosity, but don’t let that first impression fool you. Give her a little patience, kindness, and understanding, and before long you’ll discover the incredibly loving dog hiding just beneath the surface. Daisey is ready to steal your heart, she’s a loyal little shadow who simply wants to love and be loved. Once Daisey feels safe, she transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug. Pets are her love language, belly rubs are always appreciated, and if you sit or lie down, she’ll happily curl up right beside you. She loves being close to her people and is happiest simply sharing life’s quiet moments together. She’s eager to please, incredibly affectionate, and believes every treat is the best treat she’s ever had! Daisey also loves car rides and will happily hop right in for your next adventure. She’s learning how to play with toys and continues to gain confidence every day. She thrives in a calm, predictable home where she knows what to expect. Busy or chaotic environments can make her feel a little overwhelmed, but with consistency and reassurance, she settles in beautifully and becomes a devoted, loving companion. She’s currently working on her leash manners and is making wonderful progress. She’s smart, food-motivated, and genuinely enjoys making her people proud. While crates make her anxious, she does very well when left out of her crate while you’re away. Although Daisey doesn’t need another dog in her forever home, she could happily share one with the right canine companion. She feels most comfortable with dogs her own size who have calm to moderate energy levels. Large dogs or overly rambunctious playmates can make her nervous, so she’d appreciate a friend who enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation. Because she can startle easily, Daisey would do best with older, respectful children who understand how to interact gently and allow her the space she needs to build confidence. The best things in life are worth a little patience, and Daisey is no exception. Once you earn her trust, you’ll have a loyal best friend who wants nothing more than to be by your side, soaking up affection and returning it tenfold. If you’re looking for a gentle soul with a heart full of love, Daisey is ready to show you just how special she truly is. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiriesunderdogrescuemn> ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: .underdogrescuemn/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at .underdogrescuemn/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website .underdogrescuemn/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
