If you're interested in any of our wonderful dogs, you must FIRST fill out an Adoption Application at our website listed below. Once we receive it, we'll forward it to the foster family for follow up. We are 100% foster based, so we don't have a facility. Review the process FAQ at our website. Adoption applications can be found here: labrescuefresno/available-labs/adoption-application/ Adoption Fees: Puppies, (2 years of age and under) – $400.00 Adult Dog, (3 through 8 years of age) – $350.00 Senior Dogs (9 years and up) – $200.00 Special consideration may be granted for dogs with medical needs or bonded pairs. Zack – Yellow Labradoodle, 9 Years Old, 95 lbs. Meet the very handsome Zack! At 9 years old and 95 pounds, Zack is a big, fluffy teddy bear with an even bigger heart. This sweet, gentle soul has spent his entire life with the family he loves, but now his world is changing in ways he cannot understand. Zack's beloved 90-year-old owner is moving into assisted living and, sadly, he is simply too large to be allowed to come along. Time is of the essence, as this wonderful boy has nowhere else to go. We are reaching out to our Labrador-loving community in hopes that someone will open their heart and home to a dog who has given nothing but love and companionship throughout his life. Zack is best with dogs his own size and is not a good fit for a home with cats, but that is truly where the negatives end. He is friendly, well-mannered, completely house trained, and walks nicely on a leash. He was raised around horses and has done wonderfully with both small and older children. Zack is a laid-back, easygoing gentleman who is past the puppy chaos and simply wants to be near his people. He isn't overweight—he's just a big, soft, cuddly Doooooodle who still has so much love left to give. Zack is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. All he needs now is a family willing to give him a soft place to land during this difficult transition. If you think you might be the right match for Zack, please complete an adoption application and list his name. Our volunteers will be happy to connect you with his foster. Let's help this deserving boy find the next chapter of his life—a chapter filled with love, comfort, and the security every senior dog deserves. .labrescuefresno If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website .LabRescueFresno All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
