me! Thankfully, they brought me into their program and I am soaking up all the love and attention from the volunteers here. I was adopted for several days, but my adoptive mom ended up being severely allergic to me. They loved me a lot, but the allergies were just too bad for me to stay with them, so I’m back with MM. I’ve just gone into a foster home, so there may be even more information about me soon. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a friendly, happy, sweet, and gentle girl with the cutest whole-body wag that shows just how excited I am to see you! I was a little nervous when I first arrived, but I’m doing so well now, and my loving personality is shining brightly. I’m a playful, attentive girl who keeps an eye on things and may let you know if something seems unusual, though I calm down easily. I’m tuned into my people and just a wonderful companion. Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ command so far and I look forward to learning more. My temporary adoptive family reported that I was very responsive to verbal cues and seemed smart! They also reported that I liked staying in my yard rather than going for walks. I was like this at the shelter, too, so I may just need time and baby steps while I get used to leash walking in new areas. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / In my temp. home, I slept quietly all night in my crate, and my tail started wagging as soon as I heard my people wake up. My crate manners were also good at Mostly Mutts. / My temp. family reported that my potty manners were very good in their home. I would go to the door and whine when I needed to go. My potty manners were also good at Mostly Mutts. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love cuddles, belly rubs, and tasty treats! One of my favorite things is running around the play yard, so a fenced yard would be wonderful where I can safely stretch my legs and have fun with my family. I also have my own version of fetch — I like to call it "fetch zoomies!" I'll happily chase after a ball or toy, but instead of bringing it back, I zoom around with pure joy. It's all part of my happy, playful personality! / In my temp. home, I was initially a little wary of hallways and doorways, but I learned quickly that they were nothing to worry about. I may have similar concerns in a new home, but just show me it’s all good like they did. Like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m beautiful, inside and out and am looking for a wonderful family that will treasure me! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
