earned her approval, you'll have a loyal shadow for life. She forms deep bonds with her people and loves being close to them—unless she's catching up on her beauty sleep, of course! A true couch potato at heart, Bronti is perfectly content spending hours lounging in bed, interrupted only by the occasional yoga stretch or bathroom break. She has mastered the art of relaxation and would much rather cuddle up for a nap than spend the day running laps around the yard. While she enjoys a fenced backyard, she has an average energy level and doesn't require excessive exercise. Bronti has learned how to live happily with her foster dog siblings and would do well as either an only dog or in a home with other respectful dogs. She quickly bonded with a small dog in her foster home and has learned to peacefully coexist with a male Doberman. She initially needed more time to warm up to her energetic Great Dane foster sister, whose size and enthusiasm were overwhelming at first. Bronti isn't afraid to politely set boundaries with a growl or showing her teeth when another dog gets too pushy, but she has never escalated beyond that. She does not bark, lunge, or display aggressive body language. When you come home, expect Bronti to greet you with a tail wagging a hundred miles an hour and a smile on her face. Her signature move, though, is "the look." She has the most beautiful, soulful puppy eyes that seem to look straight into your heart. Pair that with her gently resting her head on your lap or chest, and you'll quickly find yourself completely wrapped around her paw. She's also a bit of a ninja when it comes to sneaking onto the bed for a cozy nap whenever you're not looking. Bronti is wonderful with children. She lives with three active, loud boys ages 8–12 and has also spent time with a two-year-old child, remaining calm, gentle, and patient with all the excitement, noise, and affection. She especially enjoyed snuggling in bed with the toddler. Cats don't interest Bronti. If they ignore her, she'll happily ignore them. If a cat suddenly runs toward her or tries to pounce, she'll usually give a little yip and quickly retreat to a safe place. Her response is based on fear, not aggression, and she has never attempted to chase or attack a cat. Bronti is house-trained, crate-trained, and rides well in the car. On walks, she doesn't pull on the leash, but she's naturally curious and likes to explore at her own pace. She's happiest when she's allowed to make her own choices rather than being physically forced into situations, such as getting into the car. With patience and gentle encouragement, she cooperates well. Although Bronti's past remains a mystery, she has made tremendous progress in foster care. She has learned what safety, comfort, and love feel like and continues to gain confidence every day. In loud or chaotic situations, she may choose to retreat to her bed or crate until things settle down, but with a calm, patient family, she continues to blossom. Bronti would thrive with someone who has the time to shower her with love and let her build confidence at her own pace. She would be an excellent companion for a retired person, someone who works from home, or a family that understands the value of patience and gentle encouragement. In return, they'll gain an incredibly loyal, affectionate, and sweet-natured best friend who will happily spend her days by their side. =============================================================================== To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
