breed, or other Brachycephalic breeds, for Daisy.** Daisy is everyone's friend! Daisy is about 2.5 years old, and she is a social and affectionate girl who can't wait to be your new best friend. She is a fun pup who loves her daily walks around the neighborhood and making friends with everyone she meets along the way. She is eager to be everyone's BFF and isn't shy about planting some kisses on your face. Daisy currently weighs about 24lbs. Daisy came to us from a local shelter after she was surrendered by her previous owner. From what we were told, her previous owner was elderly and disabled and was no longer able to physically take care of Daisy and her brother. Her brother was rescued by another rescue. Daisy has been thriving in foster care and is oh-so ready to find her fur-ever home!. Daisy is a curious and bubbly girl who enjoys cuddles, exploring the neighborhood, and playing with her toys. She has all the wonderful traits that people love about Boston terriers - goofy, fun, and lovable. Her favorite place is with her people, and she would love a family where someone works from home or can bring her to work with them (even better, is retired). She is a moderate-energy pup who is always happy to join you on the couch for some relaxation or lounging in the cool morning/evening weather outside. Daisy is still learning all of her basic manners and will need a family committed to continuing her training. Daisy has been doing well living with a playful large dog, but also seems like she wouldn't mind being your one-and-only canine companion. We haven't seen Daisy around cats, and would recommend a very slow introduction to any cats in the home, as Boston terriers can have high prey drives. Daisy could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years and older. Daisy is still working on her housetraining and is making great progress. She didn't get proper training in her previous home, so she will need a family who can be patient and consistent with her training to help her succeed. Daisy has been doing well sleeping in her crate overnight and is content to hang out in there for short periods during the day. Daisy seems like she could do well living in an apartment with proper daily exercise. Daisy is such a darling girl and is going to make someone very lucky. If you think that someone might be you, submit an application today! Daisy's adoption fee is $500. Apply to adopt here! form.jotform/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (.yolospca) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogsyolospca. For more general questions, please see our website at .yolospca.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
