is brother Oz. Their first week in the shelter was tough; both boys were overwhelmed, unsure, and frightened by all the new sights and sounds. With time, patience, and quiet reassurance, Odin has slowly begun to trust his surroundings — but he’s still the more sensitive of the two. While Oz bounced back quickly, Odin prefers to take things at his own pace. He’s a true lap‑dog at heart, leaning into people he trusts and soaking up affection once he feels safe. He may need a meeting or two to get comfortable with new faces, but when he does, his sweet, loyal personality shines through. Odin is the kind of puppy who bonds deeply and loves quietly but wholeheartedly. Odin enjoys toys and gentle play, especially when he’s feeling relaxed. After a little warm‑up time, he’ll start to explore, engage, and show off his softer, sillier side. He’s still learning confidence, and he thrives with calm handling, predictable routines, and people who understand that shy puppies blossom best with patience. He was cat‑tested and did well — with more exposure and positive experiences, he has the potential to be a cat‑friendly dog. He has also been dog‑tested; he was nervous around a very high‑energy dog, so he’ll be retested with a calmer match. His reactions show that he isn’t aggressive — just unsure — and slow introductions will help him feel secure. Odin is looking for a home that sees the beauty in a shy dog’s progress, celebrates small victories, and offers the gentle guidance he needs to grow. If you’re searching for a puppy who will reward your patience with deep trust, affection, and a lifetime of loyalty, Odin is ready to begin that journey with you. Odin's adoption fee is $250, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: .acskc/adopt-1 Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _ When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
