n I found myself in need of a new home and family. I’m glad to be here and I am enjoying my time in a wonderful calm and quiet type of foster home while I wait to meet my new family. While I don’t recall my past, I'm blossoming every day as my confidence grows and my sweet, gentle nature shines through. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, and my foster thinks I’d enjoy a doggie companion, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I met a respectful boy and girl around 10 years old in my foster home and did well with them. Playing with them was nice too, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over, and I don’t think I’d do well with loud or rambunctious kids as I’m a sensitive soul. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet and gentle boy with a submissive nature. I am initially shy but once I have a chance to decompress and realize I’m safe, I begin to warm up. When I arrived in my foster home, I chose a quiet corner of the living room on a couch as my safe place, and since then, my fear has given way to trust. Every day brings more confidence, more tail wags, and more of my loving personality. I’m taking life one day at a time, learning that I’m safe, loved, and surrounded by patient people. My foster family is enjoying watching my playful nature blossom, and they believe that with a calm home, gentle reassurance, and a patient family, I’ll become an incredibly loving and loyal companion. I’m a quiet, sensitive sweetheart ready to find my new home. / Energy level: Currently 4-6 though my foster expects it to increase to around 6-7 once I’m completely comfortable. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: So far, I know the ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘place’ commands and you can teach me even more. I’ve also learned how to go up and down stairs in my foster home. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s continue my training together. / My fosters don’t crate me, though I was crated at Mostly Mutts as I could jump or scale a 6 foot open top kennel, so please don’t leave me unattended in the yard until you know that I won’t do that as I don’t want to get lost or hurt. / My potty manners are very good in my foster home—hopefully, that will be the case in. my new home, too! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy gentle attention and petting, and if I’m feeling especially comfortable, I’ll happily roll over for a belly rub. Spending time outside in the yard with my people is a favorite of mine, and I really enjoy quietly exploring while keeping an eye on my surroundings, and sniffing some flowers. Mealtime is always something I look forward to! I’ve started playing with toys and enjoy chasing a tennis ball! I enjoy hikes and walks. After a walk or hike with my foster, I sit patiently on the rug by the door for my foster to take off my leash before I go lie down. I enjoy going for car rides and I haven’t been bothered by thunderstorms or walks in the rain and a shower is just fine with me. / Other than needing some gentle patience as I get to know people, I can’t think of any dislikes, however like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I take an over-the-counter probiotic daily for good digestion. I’m looking for a calm, patient family who will give me the time and love I need, and in return, I’ll reward you with unwavering loyalty, a gentle heart, and a lifetime of devoted companionship. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
