led him from a shelter, he had flea dermatitis alopecia, ear infections, and heart worms. He has started treatment for all of the above, and his hair will start growing in soon! Sully truly is a gentle, sweet, good mannered dog. He is very chill. He is great with people and dogs. Everyone he has met has become an immediate friend. He is a charmer and people fall in love with him right away. He loves cuddling and loves to lay with his head on your lap getting pets. He's done very well with kids and is great about taking treats gently. He has done amazing with every dog he has interacted with since arriving at his foster home. He would do really well with a confident dog in the home to help show him the ropes, and play together. As Sully is getting more comfortable and feeling better, his personality is starting to show more and more. He is very goofy. He loves to roll in the backyard, play his version of fetch, and gets the occasional zoom. He is learning how to play with toys, his favorite is currently bones. He has only barked when he got excited while rolling around in the yard. He doesn't bark at the doorbell or knocks, and he is unphased by squirrels and birds in the yard. Sully does get scared in the car and will need assistance getting lifted in. Once in the car he will try to sit with you in the front. He has never had an accident inside and can be left alone for up to 8hrs while his foster family is at work. He is fantastic on a leash too. Although watch out if you leave your food unattended, he might help himself. Unfortunately since the 4th of July fireworks, Sully has had some lingering anxiety about loud noises and storms, as well as middle of the night 'panic attacks'. Understandably so. After some time and a little doggie prozac we are hoping it resolves. Sully is an amazing dog and whoever adopts him will be very lucky! Sully is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is currently on heartworm treatment and SPIN Rescue will provide his adopters with medication to continue treatment. His adoption fee is $250. Apply to meet and adopt Sully at .spinrescue!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
