py greets every day—and every person—with a full-body wiggle and a smile. He genuinely believes he's a lap dog and loves nothing more than curling up beside his favorite people for cuddles after a day of fun. Binx is social, playful, and always ready for an adventure. He loves wrestling and playing with other dogs, carrying toys around the house, and exploring the world around him. He also has a hilarious "talkative" side and enjoys greeting everyone with adorable morning conversations. One of his favorite treats? Ice cubes! The moment he hears the ice machine, he'll come running from anywhere in the house, hoping for a crunchy snack. Although Binx loves attention, he's also capable of entertaining himself with toys when you're busy. Once he's had enough exercise and playtime, he's happy to relax by your side on the couch. Personality Extremely affectionate and people-oriented Happy, outgoing, and friendly with everyone he meets Playful, goofy, and full of personality Smart and eager to learn Confident with familiar routines and continuing to build confidence in new environments Training & Home Life Binx is mostly house-trained and does very well on a consistent potty schedule. He sleeps through the night without accidents and is crate trained. Like any young puppy, he'll continue to thrive with consistency and positive reinforcement. He's still working on his leash manners and tends to pull because he's excited to explore. He can also become overly enthusiastic when meeting new dogs or animals, but his excitement comes from wanting to play—not aggression. With continued training, he's making excellent progress. Other Pets Binx has lived successfully with both large and medium-sized resident dogs and absolutely loves having canine playmates. He benefits from slow introductions because he can be overly excited at first, but once he settles, he respects other dogs' boundaries and adjusts well to their play style. He has also lived with cats. He's very curious about them and may chase if they run, simply because he wants to play. With slow introductions, supervision, and continued guidance, he has the potential to live successfully with cat-savvy cats. Children Binx has done wonderfully with children ranging from 8 to 15 years old. He loves meeting new people and may jump up in excitement initially, but he's easily redirected and settles down quickly. Because he's still a large, energetic puppy, supervision around very young children is recommended while he continues learning his manners. Things He's Working On Like many puppies, Binx is still learning impulse control and appropriate manners. He's building confidence in unfamiliar places and occasionally barks at strange objects like shop vacuums or pool cleaners until he realizes they're harmless. Car rides are his biggest challenge. While he rides calmly, he drools excessively and is prone to motion sickness on trips longer than about 30 minutes. With time and positive experiences, he may continue to improve. Medical Binx has been a healthy, active puppy in foster care. His only noted medical concern is motion sickness during longer car rides. Ideal Home Binx would thrive with an active family committed to continuing his training and socialization. He'd love a home where he can enjoy daily walks, playtime, enrichment activities, and plenty of time with his people. He would do especially well with another friendly, playful dog, although he'd also be happy as an only dog if his exercise and companionship needs are met. He could live with cats given slow introductions and supervision, and he'd make a wonderful family dog for a home that understands the joyful enthusiasm of a growing puppy. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will greet you with wiggles, make you laugh with his goofy personality, steal ice cubes whenever he gets the chance, and happily snuggle up beside you at the end of the day, Binx is ready to become your new best friend. =============================================================================== To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
