perfect medium-sized companion who is discovering just how wonderful life can be.
Artie is the kind of dog who thrives with routine, encouragement, and tasty treats. He's incredibly food motivated, already knows "sit" and "shake," and is eagerly learning new skills every day. Instead of marathon walks, he'd much rather spend time solving a food puzzle, working on a Kong, or happily chewing on a Nylabone. Give him an oversized stick in the yard and he'll proudly parade it around before settling in for a good chew.
One of Artie's sweetest qualities is how much he loves people. He happily greets visitors and enjoys meeting new friends on walks. Once he feels comfortable, his affectionate side shines through, complete with belly rub requests and a habit of resting his chin on his canine friend's back like the world's cutest pillow.
Artie came into rescue without much early socialization, so he's still figuring out how to be a dog. He's curious about other dogs and has been making wonderful progress with his social skills. Recently, he had a play date with two dogs and absolutely rocked it. They spent their time wrestling, running, and playing their hearts out, and Artie loved every second of it. He's learning the best way to invite other dogs to play, and slow introductions and patient guidance continue to help him build confidence. He has also done well living with a cat, although his enthusiastic curiosity sometimes earns him a playful swat. When he's excited and ready to play, Artie can be very vocal with his canine and feline friends. Because of his enthusiastic "playtime announcements," he'll be happiest in a home without shared walls where he can express himself without worrying about nearby neighbors.
In the home, Artie is crate trained and making wonderful progress with potty training. He uses potty pads if available and is settling into a reliable routine. He enjoys one or two short walks each day along with time to explore the yard, and he appreciates a calm, predictable environment where he can relax and continue learning.
Artie is a bit like a puppy in an adult dog's body. Everything is new, exciting, and worth investigating. Watching him grow in confidence and discover the world has been incredibly rewarding, and his future family will have the joy of seeing that journey continue.
If you're looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with endless affection, plenty of laughs, and the satisfaction of watching a wonderful dog blossom, Artie may be the perfect match.
