st 26 pounds, Bruno is the perfect medium-sized companion with a heart full of love and a tennis ball never far from his mind. Bruno Puntz Jones is a happy, gentle boy who absolutely adores people. Whether he’s following you around the house, soaking up belly rubs, asking for ear scratches, or gazing at you with his irresistible puppy-dog eyes, he simply wants to be close to his favorite humans. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves being part of the family. One of his greatest joys in life is playing fetch—and he’s surprisingly good at it! Tell him to "go get your ball," and he’ll happily retrieve it and bring it right back for another round. He also knows commands like sit and in your crate, walks beautifully on leash, rides well in the car, and is house trained. He enjoys daily walks, playtime, and lounging with his people. Bruno is very food- and toy-motivated, making him eager to learn. Like many social dogs, he’ll happily remind you when treats are being handed out or if he thinks he deserves a little extra attention. He can be vocal when he’s excited, wants to play, or is hoping for a snack, so a home without shared walls would be ideal. While he’ll settle in his crate after you leave, he may bark or whine for a few minutes first. Bruno Puntz Jones gets along well with other dogs and has never met a stranger. He could thrive as an only dog soaking up all the attention or with another friendly canine companion. As a senior, he has arthritis in his hips and takes a daily pain medication to keep him comfortable. He previously had ear infections and eye irritation, both of which have been successfully treated, though his future family should watch for any recurrence. He also has cataracts and has some hearing and vision loss, which may experience changes over time, but they certainly don't slow him down or dampen his cheerful spirit. Bruno Puntz Jones would love a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs, chase his ball, and spend time with the people he loves most. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who still has plenty of life, love, and fetch left to give, Bruno is ready to be your new best friend. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
