I’m so grateful that Mostly Mutts was able to take me in and I am happy to be soaking up all the love from the volunteers. Now I'm ready to find a wonderful home of my own! Perhaps you? • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and was a tad timid, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, friendly girl with a happy personality and just a touch of shyness. The volunteers say I’m a delightful companion and such a sweet girl who has won their hearts. I was calm and cooperative for my bath and ear cleaning, and I was fun and friendly during my photo shoot, too. I’m also doing pretty well on walks and enjoy sitting back and people-watching with the volunteers. If you’re looking for a loving companion with a wonderful personality, I just might be your girl! / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place commands and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners have been good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty manners have been good with very few accidents on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy spending time with people, going for walks, and hanging out with the nice volunteers. I’m sure that once I’m settled into my new home, we’ll discover many more things we’ll love doing together! / Other than being a little nervous of cars when walking, I can’t think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I’m a sweetie looking for a wonderful forever family that will treasure me! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
