r them. Please visit aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Introducing Buddy! Buddy is around 1 yr old and weighs around 80lbs. He is the kind of dog who will remind you every day that love comes first. Still young at heart, Buddy is a smart, active shepherd, collie, and hound mix who loves having a job to do. Whether he's keeping an eye on the yard, exploring a trail, or riding along in the truck, he's happiest when he's with his people. Before he's ready for a meal, he's looking for a few pets and some attention from his favorite people, and that sweet habit says so much about who he is. He already knows "sit," walks nicely on a leash, and appears to be housetrained. He has also done well with the senior dog in his current home and has formed a deep bond with the family who rescued him. Buddy has plenty of energy and would love a home where he can run, play, and continue learning through positive training. A fenced yard or a home with room to explore would suit him well, and he seems like a great match for someone who enjoys hiking or country living. He has shown a strong instinct to chase cats and passing motorcycles, so a home without cats and with a secure place to play would help him succeed. Storms can be scary for him, and he appreciates reassurance when the weather turns rough. After being found as a stray, Buddy has blossomed into a loyal, affectionate companion with a goofy side that keeps everyone smiling. He's ready to trade his temporary porch for a forever one where he can be part of the family, inside the home and close to the people he loves. Buddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas. Contact us for more information on adopting Buddy. Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: aarf-tn/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) aarf-tn/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
