rs by simply curling up beside you and reminding you how special puppy love can be. Meet Marcie, an adorable 8-week-old puppy weighing just 6 pounds. This tiny girl has a huge heart and a personality that makes everyone she meets fall in love. Marcie is the daughter of our recently adopted mama, Lucy, and now this sweet little girl is ready to find the family who will love her forever! Marcie is a true cuddle bug. She loves being close to her people, soaking up affection, and making everyone around her smile. She has already become a favorite at the veterinarian's office because of her sweet personality and gentle nature. Marcie has a little wobble in her hind end that actually seems to be improving as she gets stronger. She has been thoroughly evaluated by our veterinarian, and they suspect her ataxia may be due to a congenital neurological condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, which can affect balance and coordination. The good news? Marcie doesn't let her little wobble slow her down one bit! She gets around well, loves to play, and enjoys life just like any other puppy. She may stumble or fall down from time to time, but she simply gets right back up and keeps on going. She may always have a little extra wiggle in her walk, but we think it only adds to her charm and makes her even more adorable. Marcie is: Current on vaccinations and preventatives Too young to have started house and crate training, giving her new family the opportunity to teach her from the very beginning Fostered in York, PA Marcie may walk a little differently than other puppies, but she has just as much love to give. She's looking for a family who sees her for who she truly is—a sweet, affectionate little girl who is ready to fill a home with cuddles, puppy kisses, and unconditional love. If you have room in your heart for this special little girl, Marcie is ready to wiggle her way right into it. Please share! Marcie's forever family may be just one share away, and we can't wait for the day this incredible little girl finds the loving home she deserves. LIC#9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at .pack9rescue. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
