Raised with children from infants to 9 years old — gentle, patient, and wonderful with kids
Raised with an older German Shepherd and has positive experiences with other dogs
Calm, confident, and has an amazing “off switch”
Loves car rides, water adventures, swimming, and being on the go
Extremely treat motivated and eager to learn
Has an extraordinary nose and would likely enjoy scent work, barn hunt, or similar activities
Affectionate, playful, goofy, and loyal
Astrid has incredible intuition and seems to understand her people’s emotions. She is a loving companion who connects deeply with her family and has shown patience, gentleness, and awareness around children.
Astrid is an incredible blend of intelligence, confidence, affection, and goofy personality. She loves being with her people and wants to be included in everyday life—whether that means adventures, relaxing at home, or simply being by your side.
During her evaluation, Astrid remained calm and confident in a busy public setting with people, cars, and other dogs nearby. She was curious, observant, friendly, and showed no reactivity. She enjoys exploring, using her nose, and being part of whatever her people are doing.
Astrid would thrive with a foster family who will include her in daily life. She is a companion dog who wants a partnership—not just a backyard. She would love walks, adventures, dog-friendly outings, water activities, and relaxing with her people.
Astrid will need patience and time to decompress as she transitions, but with stability and love, this sweet girl is ready to SHINE.

We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. The physical location of each dog is posted with the name of the pet or in the title area. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
The basic information that we have available is in our posting, but sometimes fosters will post updates on the MAD Rescue Facebook page as well, .facebook/groups/malinoisanddutchshepherdrescueinc.
