ok me in, and I am soaking up all the love and attention from the volunteers here and I heard them say that I’m now ready to find a family of my very own. I think that is the best news ever! Plan to come meet me soon and see if I am your new furry family member! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met some dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I didn’t show any aggression, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a tiny sweetheart who just wants to be close to you. The moment you open the door to my crate, I come right out and head straight for your arms. Honestly…I’d rather jump into your arms than walk anywhere. Being held is my favorite place in the world. I’m a total love bug—the kind of little dog who belongs in a purse, on a couch, or tucked right against your chest. I can be a little nervous on walks, but I push through and do just fine. I’m friendly, active, and energetic, but also incredibly cuddly. I like toys, I love attention, and my soft fur makes snuggling even better. I’m small, social, and full of personality—a tiny girl who wants to be carried, loved, and part of everything you do. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners are good at the shelter. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like toys, cuddling and getting lots of attention. I’m sure we’ll find lots more things we like doing together! / Other than being a little unsure about walks, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a loving girl looking for that special family to love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
