eone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at .carolinapoodlerescue/application Foster location: Dreamweaver Farm, Pacolet, SC Weight: 65lbs Height: 24 inches at the shoulder. Spayed/Neutered: Yes, Tessa is spayed. Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? No — she prefers to stay close and enjoys short walks on lead. Want To Know More About Me? Text Tessa to 864‑441‑9075 for her full story and photos — we’ll send everything you need to know. If you want to skip straight to the application: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Here’s Your Quick Peek: PLEASE ASK FOR TESSA'S FULL STORY!! Tessa has a long story to unpack and needs more room than our short description! Tessa is a sweet, sensitive Standard Poodle mix with a long past and a few quirks that an understanding adopter will need to work with. She’s gentle, loyal, and attaches quickly once she feels safe. She loves soft beds, quiet routines, and following her person around like a shadow. Must have: A calm, consistent home with adults only, and experienced dog owner (Tessa is not for first time dog owners). Exercise: Low — short, easy walks on lead. Best with: Someone patient who understands back pain and gentle handling. Not ideal for: Homes with children or visiting children. Energy level: Low — quiet, steady companionship. Please note Tessa has reacted poorly in the past and needs an adopter who understands this. Please ask for her full story! Tessa is cautious about touch and prefers to know when she’s going to be petted. She loves butt pets, soft voices, and predictable routines. She’s a picky eater but enjoys soft food and settles in beautifully once she trusts you. Tessa does not like squeaky toys. Good with dogs: Yes — all dogs, big and small. Good with kids: Tessa requires a home without children, and home where children do not visit. Cats: Unknown. Fun fact: Tessa loves a cushy bed and will happily curl up nearby just to be close to her person. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Want updates and ways to help? 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
