right someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at .carolinapoodlerescue/application a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; }tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; }tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Weight: 33.7 lbs Height: 22 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes - Spayed Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? No - Buffy has so far cleared all 4' and 5' fences we have. You may be able to hold her in a 6' but I would still not trust her. She is strong and agile. Want To Know More About Me? Text Buffy to 864-441-9075 for my full story - we'll share everything you need to know! Here's Your Quick Peek: Buffy is a happy-go-lucky poodley girl. We do not have DNA so I checked the "mixed" box but she looks, moves and acts like a purebred poodle. She was found as a stray but hasn't let her rough start dull her adventurous spirit. Friendly with people, playful with dogs, and always ready for the next adventure, Buffy is looking for an active family that can keep up with her energy and give her a safe place to explore. Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Must have: Time. Buffy wants people more than anything else. After a hard day of play and fun, she can always be found lounging on the couch, enjoying her evening. At night, you'll find her curled on the bed. Sleeping anywhere else is NOT in Buffy's play book. She also loves the company of other dogs and plays nonstop with her foster siblings both large and small. Exercise: Daily walks, playtime, and opportunities to run and explore. Buffy thrives when she has an outlet for her energy and lots of love from her people. Buffy is athletic and can clear fences that stop most dogs (so far she has handily handled 4' and 5' fences). Because of that, we are not requiring a fence but without a fence, you must have a plan in place for Buffy to run and romp off leash at least 3 times per week and lots of other activities when she is on leash. Are you a distance runner or power walker (5 miles or more per day)? Do you have plans for day care for Buffy? Either of those will work. Just remember, this girl needs to move. Best with: Active families and, outdoor enthusiasts who think dogs should be part of everything. Another playful dog is ideal but not required but do plan for socialization days at least twice per week. Buffy enjoys playmates. Not ideal for: Apartments, homes with short fencing that want to leave a dog outside unattended, those who work away from home all day or families looking for a couch potato. Energy level: High. Buffy is an affectionate, confident poodle (doodle?) who loves people, enjoys other dogs, and approaches life with enthusiasm. She'll make a wonderful companion for a family or a person or couple ready for adventures and committed to keeping her safely contained. Please note, we have not seen Buffy with children. My only concern with kids and Buffy is I am confident if they are rambunctious, she is going to be right in the middle with them. Good with dogs: Yes. Buffy enjoys other dogs of all sizes and has a playful play style. Please note, Buffy is NOT a follower dog. She will be the leader in a group of dogs. Good with kids: Unknown, but her caregiver feels she would likely do well with respectful children. Cats: Unknown and honestly probably not although we can test. She has a good prey drive, typical for the breed. Fun fact: Buffy is having a ball living on a farm. And rolling in horse poop. Yes she does! This girl does dirty dog farm dog and loves it. Note - Buffy was up for adoption but she scraped her foot doing one of her zoomie tricks. We removed her listing to give her time to heal. It took a while because "Buffy you need to rest and be quiet and heal" were words she never seemed to take seriously. It finally did heal and she is fully 100%. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
