nderful home with a beloved Mostly Mutts volunteer, but sadly she passed away, and we all miss her very much. Thankfully, I’m in a wonderful foster home while Mostly Mutts helps me on my journey to finding another loving home, for which I’m so very grateful. I was adopted for a month, but it wasn’t a good fit, so I’m back in a wonderful foster home while I wait to meet my new family. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I liked them, though I wasn’t quite ready to play with them. Once I know them, I believe I’ll play with them. My former foster reported that I was great with their dogs. There’s also a nice dog in my current foster home. So, if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals, too. I was a bit too much for the dog in my former adoptive home. / There’s a cat in my current foster home and so far, I’ve simply ignored him. All cats are different, so I don’t know how I would do with another kitty. / I met two nice boys around 6 years old at Mostly Mutts I was sweet with them. I got a little frightened when they ran, but I didn’t show any aggression. My former foster reported that I did very well with kids, though calmer kids would be my preference. So, if you have kids 10+, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a sweet, friendly girl who can be a bit shy at first—until I get to know you. Once I know you, I enjoy being close to my person and relaxing at home together, as I’m a pretty chill girl. I let out a few barks when my foster’s friend came to visit, but once I realized they were there to be my new friend, I quickly relaxed and showed them why I’m known for being laid-back, very easy, and super sweet! / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ and ‘come’ commands so far and I bet you can teach me a lot more. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s do some training together. / I have not needed to be crated as I have not bothered anything in my foster home that wasn’t mine. Though in another home, they did report that I got into something though I don’t recall what it was. / My potty manners have been good in my foster home, though my former adoptive family reported that I had some accidents. Perhaps I just needed to go out a bit more. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy going on shorter walks and am very happy relaxing at home and resting near my person. I also enjoy being petted and soaking up attention—and I’m a huge fan of belly rubs! I recently discovered how fun it was playing in a jiggly water hose—it was so fun! Apparently, I did some counter surfing in my former adoptive home, but not my foster home. / I’m not a fan of fireworks or storms, but other than that, I can’t think of any dislikes, though I certainly wouldn’t be happy without the love, good care and attention all doggies deserve! • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my new family should consult with their vet regarding a dental cleaning in the future. I am looking for a wonderful family to give me a loving home! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
