and occasionally leave you wondering, “What exactly is she doing now?” Then meet Pinky! Pinky is a 3-month-old terrier mix weighing approximately 12 pounds. She is currently fostered with SIX other dogs, and this goofy little girl thinks every single one of them is a potential best friend, wrestling partner, or contestant in a very serious game of chase. She is your typical happy-go-lucky terrier: active, playful, curious, and always ready to see what everyone else is doing. Got a toy? She wants it. Chewing on a bone? She approves. Running around the yard? SHE'S COMING TOO. Sitting quietly and doing absolutely nothing? ...Let's not get carried away. But don't worry—once Pinky gets some of that terrier energy out, she does have an off switch! She loves a good cuddle and is more than happy to settle in with her people after a successful day of puppy shenanigans. Pinky has a great temperament and gets along wonderfully with her six canine foster siblings. She has met cats as well and did fine, and at just 3 months old, she is the perfect age to continue learning how to live with kitty friends. Here’s what Pinky brings to the table: 3 months old and approximately 10 pounds Fostered with SIX dogs and loves her canine friends Typical goofy, active, happy terrier personality Loves playing, chasing, and generally being involved in EVERYTHING Great at entertaining herself with toys and bones Loves people and has a sweet, affectionate side Has met cats and is at a great age to learn to live with them Can get a little mouthy when she's super excited—but this is playful puppy behavior, never aggressive, and she doesn't bite down Still learning leash skills but is a smart girl who should catch on quickly Sleeps in a pen with an attached crate May protest briefly when she first goes into her crate or pen, especially if she knows you're nearby, because obviously she believes she should be wherever YOU are Settles in once she realizes the protest isn't changing management's decision House and crate training are coming along, but she is still a puppy and accidents can happen if her humans don't catch her in time Spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives Pinky is not a puppy who plans to sit around and watch life happen. She wants to PLAY, explore, investigate, chase, chew, cuddle, and then wake up tomorrow and do it all over again. She's goofy. She's fun. She's active. She's sweet. And she has enough personality packed into her little body to keep her future family laughing for years to come. If you're ready for a little terrier tornado with a heart of gold and an excellent sense of humor—well, Pinky is ready to report for duty! Fostered in York, PA Apply today! Please share and help us find this goofy girl the perfect family! Pinky is ready to bring the fun... and probably steal a toy or two along the way. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at .pack9rescue. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
