r website at .dachshundpaws Breanne is an adorable 8-year-old, 11-pound mini Dachshund with a soft heart and a gentle soul. She is a shy and timid little girl who can be fearful when faced with new people or unfamiliar situations. She needs a little time, patience, and reassurance to feel comfortable, but once she lets her guard down, her sweet personality truly shines. Breanne is wonderful with other dogs and would do best in a home with a confident, friendly dog sibling who can show her the ropes and help her feel safe and secure. Having a canine companion by her side will give her the encouragement she needs to come out of her shell. Before coming into rescue, Breanne lived primarily outdoors. She has done wonderfully learning to use a doggie door and is doing great! In her new home, she may need a little extra time and patience with housebreaking while she learns her new routine and gets accustomed to her surroundings. And if there is one thing Breanne absolutely loves, it’s soft, fluffy dog beds! She would be in heaven in a quiet, loving home where she can curl up somewhere cozy and feel safe. Breanne also came to us with very bad teeth. She recently had a much-needed dental cleaning, and sadly, she lost most of her teeth in the process. But Breanne doesn't let that slow her down one bit! She still loves her meals and has no problem enjoying her food. Breanne may need a little extra patience in the beginning as she learns to trust and adjust to her new life. But once she feels safe, this sweet little girl has so much love to give. She deserves a calm, loving home where she can gain confidence, enjoy the companionship of another dog, and spend her days surrounded by comfort, kindness, and plenty of fluffy beds. Breanne’s adoption fee: $500 We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found. Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day. Please visit our website at .dachshundpaws

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
