He thrives on interaction, play, and being included in whatever his people are doing. And when we say this boy is smart, we mean VERY smart. Sarge has figured out how to open both his indoor and outdoor kennels, so secure confinement is a must. He can also climb chain-link fencing and scale a wooden fence when left outside alone. Interestingly, he does not tend to attempt these escapes when someone is outside with him. Sarge has very high energy and is a dominant male dog who still needs continued work on his manners and training. He is intelligent, eager to engage, and loves to have a job. He enjoys playing with balls, chasing toys, and absolutely loves his hanging rope outside. His current caregiver spends around 3 hours a day playing with him, so his future family needs to be prepared to provide plenty of physical exercise, mental stimulation, training, and interaction. Sarge is looking for an active family who wants to include him in their life. He would do best with people who understand the needs of a young working-breed dog and are committed to continuing his training as he matures. He is not recommended for a home with cats. Sarge is not looking for just any home, and his placement will be taken very seriously. This will not be first-come, first-served. His rescue is looking for the right family who meets his needs and understands what comes with bringing a young Belgian Malinois into their home. He doesn't need someone who expects perfection. He needs someone who understands Malinois, appreciates a busy brain and body, and is ready to help him become the incredible adult dog he has the potential to be.
