Soon thereafter, it was discovered that she had heart worms, and during her months of treatment, her foster mom worked to gently desensitize her to being touched and to accept affection. Today Kimchi is completely healthy and ready for her forever home. While she's still a little nervous in new situations and with new people, she will let people she knows pick her up and pet her. In fact, she will bark at you and wag her tail to get your attention. And what an adorable wagging tail it is--going up and down, rather than side to side, and with a little kink in it (the likely result of her encounter with the car). Kimchi loves treats and will stand in your lap, take them from your hand, and lick you once they are gone. In just a little time, she'll be a loyal pet to you if you're patient and continue working with her. She likes to sit on the couch and will snooze on the bed if given the chance, but she is confused by a television and some of the sounds from action shows will make her sit up or scurry away. Kimchi is a well-mannered young lady, who's crate trained and house trained and who walks nicely on a leash. She's good with other dogs, big and small (as long as they don't mind that she'll always be right there, just half a step behind them), and she doesn't seem to care about cats one way or the other. Curiously, Kimchi is drawn to quiet children and will seek them out if they sit with her on the floor. She's not a fan of car rides, but a safe crate makes getting her wherever she needs to go an easy task. While Kimchi was on rest throughout her heart worm treatment, she put on a little weight. Currently just under 16 lbs., she'll most likely shed a pound or so now that she has full exercise privileges.
