were malnourished, living outside in filth. Several rescue groups responded to the call for help and we were lucky enough to receive this darling girl to care for. She came in weighing under 40 pounds, skin and bones. She is estimated to be around 4 years old. Her sweet, curious temperament was evident from the beginning. As we get to know her better she only gets sweeter, and gentler. Her tail can be seen wagging a mile a minute when there are treats around or those she is close to. She has a healthy curiosity and absolutely LOVES attention. Daisy is trying very hard to blend in to normal life in her foster home, and discovered that couches and beds are very comfortable. She loves going outside to explore, but is still quite skittish at sudden noises and actions. Daisy spooks easy at different sounds and visible movements she is not familiar with. Her instinct is to run, but she does recover quickly. She may be shy and cautious with strangers, but has no sign of aggression. With those she knows well she is incredibly clingy and loyal. Her new family will need to be very patient with her and be committed to helping her gain confidence while she develops into the next stage of her life. Experience with positive based training or the desire to take her to classes, is required. Another canine in the household is a must. Daisy gets along extremely well with dogs, but we would caution her with cats as she does express intense interest in them. Older doggy savey children would be fine, so 10 year olds plus who can respect her needs would be acceptable. A fenced yard is required so she can explore freely, without the fear of bolting. Daisy is a work in progress still. She doesn’t like to be alone, and is learning about crate-training, but will still howl if unhappy. She has a lot to learn, and her new family will be rewarded immensely watching as develops into all she can be. We are looking for a special family that will continue to work on developing her confidence. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet

  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life.
