keeping them until we find that for them. To be honest we bit off more than we can chew with three kids and two dogs. I can’t walk them as often as I used to be able to and they aren’t getting the attention that they deserve. The dogs names are Zeke and Dexter. Zeke will be 3 in November and Dexter will be 2 in July. We got them from the same breeder in Thornton just a year apart (they are brothers) we paid $500 a piece and we did not ask if they wanted them back because we have no contact information and I am sure they mostly were about making money off the dogs. Both these guys have had training, they are just selective on when they want to listen to it. Zeke’s was at Petsmart and Dexter went through a more strict training through Sit Means Sit. Both are neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. They are kenneled when we work and most nights. We have tried leaving them out but they get into things. They sleep well in our room on the floors but they pace sometimes and that wakes the babies. Dexter (100lbs) is a little wild boy, he likes to jump, run, walk, play and take things from his brother. He is a very loving little boy too, he is just a little more honry (getting food off the counter or table, chewing things he shouldn’t be (carpet/couches/kids toys) pottying in the house occasionally. He doesn’t like being kenneled. He gets very bad anxiety in them and has pretty much figured out how to break out of any of the ones we have tried. We have tried leaving them out because of this but they destroy things. We ended up buying a little smaller kennel than he originally had (he had a large metal kennel he broke breaking out of and chewed up pieces trying to get out) and he is doing better but still doesn’t love it ( this one is plastic and more closed up so he feels safe). He can jump 4-5 ft gates. If you are interested in this boy please contact Kathleen or Nick Kathlene Cell - 720-215-6386 Nick Cell – 303-489-5155

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
